As a biologist, Colwyn Boyd Trevarthen has worked for 50 years in Universities studying and teaching how young children communicate with parents, other teachers, and playmates — how they move with skillful awareness to share their interests and feelings. He uses the biology of human psychological development to support practitioners in early education and care, and to help stressed families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He retired as Professor of Developmental Psychobiology at Edinburgh University in 1996 to continue his work in self-employment. Since then, he has over 200 publications including chapters in books on child development, and has co-edited four books – on innate musicality in early life and the child\u2019s motives for sharing cultural learning, and on their support in care.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
