El profesor Stephen W. Porges, PhD, es cient\u00edfico universitario distinguido en la Universidad de Indiana, profesor de psiquiatr\u00eda en la Universidad de Carolina del Norte y profesor em\u00e9rito en la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago y en la Universidad de Maryland. Ha publicado m\u00e1s de 400 art\u00edculos cient\u00edficos evaluados por expertos que han sido citados en m\u00e1s de 50,000 art\u00edculos revisados por pares y posee varias patentes relacionadas con la monitorizaci\u00f3n y regulaci\u00f3n del estado auton\u00f3mico. Es creador de la teor\u00eda polivagal y de una intervenci\u00f3n basada en m\u00fasica (Safe and Sound Protocol\u2122), que actualmente es utilizada por aproximadamente 3,000 terapeutas para reducir las sensibilidades auditivas, mejorar el procesamiento del lenguaje y aumentar la interacci\u00f3n social espont\u00e1nea.
