In this talk, Dr. Ramchandani will cover two topics: First, three things that we know about children\u2019s play and the benefits it can offer. Second, how we can use what we have learnt about play to inform and improve what we do for children and families – both in research and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paul Ramchandani, D.Phil, M.Sc, M.Med.Sc, MRCPsych<\/strong> is the LEGO Professor of Play in Education, Development and Learning at the University of Cambridge. Prior to this he was Professor of Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Imperial College London. He trained initially as a medical doctor, subsequently training in Psychiatry. He continues to work as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the NHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPaul works at the PEDAL Research Centre, with a team studying early child development and developing and testing interventions to promote children\u2019s mental health and children\u2019s wider positive development. Paul is a trustee of Foundations, the What Works centre for children and families (previously the Early Intervention Foundation) and is a member of the DfE\u2019s scientific advisory council.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
